At last the most anticipated day has come and Lord Ganesha has arrived to light up our lives and save us from all evil. From today, the nation will remain busy in worshipping and welcoming the most charming son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Every year Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great enthusiasm and people all over the streets come together to have fun and worship the lord deeply by heart.

Lord Ganesha is known for removing all the obstacles that come in the life of people. In fact, spiritual obstacles are turned positively if the god bestows his blessings. Lalbaug Cha Raja!

As residents of Mumbai we know how important is to visit Lalbaug Cha Raja during Ganesh Chaturthi. People across India visit here to see and pray the lord. Hugh flock of people fills the place and waits for hours on queue to get seconds of glance of this big idol. Thousands of people visit and worship this lord. This is not the only destination in Mumbai, but every place is adorned with sets where Asthavinayak (ganesha) claims his presence. This is one of the renowned Ganeshas that receive a lot of coverage. People believe that their wishes are fulfilled here which is why so many visitors in groups come to visit the lord.

Festival

This festival is also known as Ganeshotsav celebrated in Hindu religion and is a festival of ten days. With Anant Chaturdashi, the festival ends and people from every corner of the nation celebrate this auspicious festival with pride.

Months before the festival arrives, work for creating the idols and coloring processes begin. People have to do pre-booking for the idols sold in variety of sizes, shapes, designs, and colors. The festival month starts and people color their houses and clean every corner of the home to welcome Lord Ganesha. Cleaning and coloring of houses are the traditions which people are following since years. The size of idols varies from ¾ of an inch to more than 70 feet.

Various pandals are formed by society or at houses where eco-friendly decorations and materials used to build statues are considered. These days more eco-friendly materials are used to avoid water pollution which otherwise is a big problem during “Ganesh Visarjan” (immersion of Ganesh idol).

Prayers are sung which is especially dedicated to lord Ganesha and is called as “Ganesh Vandana” in Hindi. Various rituals are followed in ten-day tenure, but what is more important to consider is that people come together and worship the same lord collectively and happily.

May Shri Ganesha bless us all and remove all the obstacles from our way. May he give us enough strength to fight the evil and attain success in everything.
