Happy Teachers’ Day: A Guru’s Influence in Life is Most Important!

Teacher’s-DayEvery 5th September is marked as Teachers’ Day in India, the birthday of second President of India – Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Teachers Day is celebrated to pay respect to our beloved teachers and it is dedicated to our second President of India who was a great educationist, great scholar and amongst the best teachers in India ever produced.

The Origins

There is a prime reason for celebrating this day with complete enthusiasm. Dr. Radhakrishnan was an ardent supporter of mass education and was one of the greatest scholars as well as teachers of all times. His birthday was on 5th September which people wanted to celebrate. The day turned out as Teacher’s Day after his permission was taken by students, friends and teachers. However, he only convinced in one condition that the day should not be celebrated as his birthday, but as Teachers Day, representing all teachers across the country. Since then (1962), Teacher’s Day is celebrated to honor the great person and to every teacher who make our life more knowledgeable and bright.

The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.
