There’s a new addition to the Android Family. Google has announced a new version of the Android operating system, the Android Lollipop 5.0. The new interface is remarkable with its notably new animations and icons, which will provide users with a much better experience. This is a big relief for users and Lollipop’s predecessor Android L struggles to offer a consistent and smooth user experience.
This fresh version of Android is filled with new and improved features. The one that must be mentioned first is that the Lollipop 5.0 is the first android version designed for optimizing 64 bit tablets and smartphones. According to reports, the OS will be embedded in Google’s Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 sometime soon.
Some other devices that might get the Lollipop later include LG G3, HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S5; however, it’s not yet known when exactly the Android Lollipop 5.0 for these devices will be released. Once released, the company will make Lollipop for the above mentioned devices (LG G3, HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S5) available as Google Play Edition.
Lollipop will give your device’s user interface an absolutely new appearance. Your device’s touchscreen will start responding more intuitively once you install this new OS. In addition, there’s a new lock-screen. The changed user interface by allowing you to make alterations based on your requirements will ensure that you don’t get distracted easily. In short, the interface design is absolutely smooth.
According to Sundar Pichai of Google, the developers have created Lollipop to provide users with a flexible operating system. It will work on all kinds of devices and can be customized exactly according the needs of the users. Pichai also informed that this version of Android, like any of the operating system’s previous versions has been designed for being shared. The Google employee shared these facts with users through a blog post pertaining to the OS launch.
For those who are wondering about the fate of other Android devices: nothing can be said yet. Motorola’s Moto G and Moto X, which are currently two of the most widely used Android phones, however, are expected to have the update shortly. HTC, on the other hand, has offered confirmation that One (M7) and One (M8) will get the update; however, this change is unlikely to occur before 2015.
In addition to the Material Design, developers also have as many as 5,000 fresh APIs to use. What must be noted here is this new version of Android has been designed for allowing several Android devices boasting diverse shapes, sizes and features to work jointly.
Lollipop showcases its flexibility also with its ability of deeply integrating with Google’s wearable platform Android Wear. Android Wear powers a number of smartwatches marketed by companies such as Samsung, LG and Motorola.
Android Lollipop 5.0 allows users to utilize a specially designed battery saver mode. This feature of the OS will allow you to use the camera of your device for 90 more minutes. The other features that deserve a mention include tweaked notifications, and fresh methods of protecting other devices of the user via Bluetooth.
